Authorities in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity organised an event to honour the 30 rescuers from the RS Civil Protection authority who helped save lives in Turkey following the devastating earthquake. Among these heroes is the dog Tora, who played a key role in the rescue of an 11-year-old girl.
Tora helped save the life of 11-year-old Irmak who was found under the rubble six days after the earthquake.
After spending 10 days in Turkey trying to save as many lives as possible, these rescuers have expressed the wish to donate their daily wages to the victims of the earthquake.
Earlier, the President of the RS entity, Milorad Dodik, announced that the rescuers will be rewarded with five thousand Bosnian Marks (BAM) each.
